Drug Formulation

1 fox liver from the 12th lunar month, 1 crow from the 12th lunar month (with beak and claws removed), 2 liang of patchouli,1.5 liang of mulberry cuttlefish, 1.5 liang of white aconite root, 1.5 liang of lycium bark, 1 liang of ophiopogon tuber, 1.5 liang of dried scorpion (roasted), 1.5 liang of black snake (soaked in wine, skinned and deboned, then roasted), 1.5 liang of white flower snake (soaked in wine, skinned and deboned, then roasted), 1.5 liang of white silkworm pupae (raw),Asparagus Root (core removed, raw) 1.5 liang, Ginseng 1.5 liang, Areca Nut (raw) 1.5 liang, Aconite (roasted) 1.5 liang, Musk (ground) half a liang, Wulingzhi 1 liang, Gastrodia (raw) 1 liang, Notopterygium (root tip removed) 1 liang (the above ingredients, along with the musk, should be finely ground and sifted), Talcum Powder 1 fen.

Processing

Of the 20 ingredients listed above, first place the first 7 ingredients—fox liver and crow—into a jar, followed by the remaining 5 ingredients. Cover the opening with a piece of glazed tile, leaving a small hole the size of a coin for smoke to escape. Seal the hole with yellow clay, and roast over low heat until dry. Gradually increase the heat until blue smoke emerges; immediately seal the hole with clay, remove from the fire, and bake in ash. Allow to cool, then remove and grind to a fine powder;Combine with the remaining 13 ingredients and grind together until uniform; sift through a fine sieve twice, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans.

Instructions for Use

Take 3–5 pills per dose, washed down with warm wine; chew slightly; do not take more than the prescribed amount. Take two doses on an empty stomach; take another dose after walking 5 li; take one dose at noon and one at midnight; recovery occurs upon sweating.
