Drug Formulation

2 liang of Wood Fragrance (finely sliced, lightly roasted), 2 liang of Amber (used raw), 1 liang of Beiting (dissolved in hot water, clarified to remove sand and stones; take the blue portion and simmer in a porcelain vessel until it becomes a powder),2 liang of Jing Chuanxiong (roasted), 1 liang of Guan Gui (peeled), 1 liang of Dang Gui (lightly roasted), 1 liang of Bai Jiangcan (select straight ones; remove the silk and clean thoroughly; place in a white bowl with natural ginger juice and bake until dry), 1 liang of Myrrh (raw), 1 liang of Turmeric (lightly roasted), 1 liang of Cicada Shells (remove dirt, claws, and surface residue; wash thoroughly before use).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Separately, take 1 liang of frankincense and grind it thoroughly with water until the fragrance is fully extracted; add a small amount of wheat flour paste to the water to form pills the size of mung beans. Coat the pills with 1.5 liang of high-quality raw cinnabar and 1 qian of musk. Apply the cinnabar and musk powders in three separate applications to ensure an even color.

Instructions for Use

For regular use, take 5 pills; for chronic conditions, take 15 to 20 pills, washed down with warm wine or broth; take twice daily. For red or white vaginal discharge, take with wine decocted with Schizonepeta; for blocked meridians, take with wine decocted with Polygonum cuspidatum, Ligusticum chuanxiong, and honey; for unbearable chest pain, take with ginger and vinegar broth; for shortness of breath and coughing, take with a decoction of Terminalia chebula and ginseng;For the “Five Exhaustions,” decoct black plum, softshell turtle shell, and green onion whites in wine and take with the decoction; for mania caused by blood toxins, grind raw rhinoceros horn with knife-grinding water and take with the decoction—lead white powder may also be used; for itching of the limbs, sores all over the body, and the five types of hemorrhoids, decoct the head of the Ho-shou bird in wine and take with the decoction; for accumulated cold in the Blood Sea, abdominal colic, bloating after meals, and weakness in the lower back and legs, take with wine made from stir-fried ginger;For blood-induced dizziness and confusion, boil equal parts of a half-bowl of a child’s urine and a half-bowl of wine until boiling, then let cool slightly before administering; for massive uterine bleeding, decoct white mugwort leaves in wine and take with the decoction; for labor contractions, blood stasis causing confusion, irregular fetal breathing, fetal death in utero, retained placenta, or to induce labor, use the white of one raw egg mixed with hot wine and take the mixture;After a miscarriage or childbirth, if toxic blood rushes to the heart, causing a clenched jaw, stiff tongue, alternating chills and fever, thirst, swelling of the head and face, inability to sit or lie down, and aching in all joints, use a small amount each of raw Rehmannia root and fresh ginger juice, add half a zhan of child’s urine, decoct together for 3–5 boils, strain, and take while warm;For postpartum stroke, use 2 Sichuan aconite roots (processed to remove the skin and navel) and a small amount of white silkworm pupae. Grind them together into a powder, decoct in wine until reduced to half a bowl, and take it with the decoction;For persistent postpartum urinary dribbling, a bitter taste in the mouth, and night sweats, decoct dried lotus leaf and ejiao in wine and take with the decoction; for swelling and pain in the head, face, and limbs, with stiffness and difficulty in moving, take Corydalis in wine; for blood stasis with clots and unbearable stabbing pain, take Angelica sinensis decocted in wine; for dysentery with red or white discharge, take with a decoction of aged rice.
