Drug Formulation

Half liang of transparent donkey-hide gelatin (roasted until crisp), half liang of Coptis (cleaned), half liang of Isatis root, 2.5 qian of soapberry (removing the stringy core and seeds, roasted with vinegar until charred), 2.5 qian of hedgehog skin (roasted until charred),2.5 qian of bee hive (roasted until charred), 2.5 qian of snake skin (lightly roasted), 2.5 qian of soapberry thorns (lightly roasted), 2.5 qian of pangolin scales (inserted into hot ash until charred), 2.5 qian of pig’s hind hoof horn (burned; all the above ingredients should retain their inherent properties), 2.5 qian of Angelica sinensis, 2.5 qian of Chuanxiong, and 2.5 qian of Sophora japonica flowers.

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; mix with a paste made from rice vinegar and boiled flour to form pills the size of a tung seed.
