Membrane-Contracting Decoction,In cases where a woman has been excessively exhausted by labor before childbirth and has also experienced emotional distress or anger, leading to the liver’s failure to store blood and excessive blood loss, a mass may protrude from the vaginal opening after childbirth. This mass resembles a handkerchief, may have corners, or may be bifurcated, often extending beyond the vaginal opening by as much as six or seven cuns, and may be accompanied by a dry, palm-sized piece adhering to the mattress that falls off.

Drug Formulation

1 liang of raw astragalus, 5 qian of ginseng, 5 qian of white atractylodes (stir-fried with earth), 5 qian of white peony root (stir-fried with wine until charred), 3 qian of angelica root (washed with wine), and 1 qian of cimicifuga.
