Drug Formulation

Half a liang of Gardenia fruit (peeled), half a liang of Cornus fruit, half a liang of Sanguisorba root (washed and chopped), half a liang of Platycodon root (roasted), half a liang of Asarum root (stems and leaves removed, roasted),Qianghuo (stem and root removed) half liang, Duhuo (stem and root removed) half liang, Ma Huang (knots removed, decocted, foam skimmed off, and baked) half liang, Gan Cao (roasted, coarsely chopped) half liang, Lu Rong (soaked in wine, roasted to remove hair) half liang, Hu Gu (coated with butter, roasted until yellow) half liang,Purple Aster (stems and soil removed) half liang, White Angelica (lightly stir-fried) half liang, Ligusticum (stems and soil removed) half liang, Red Blue Flower (lightly stir-fried) half liang, Fangfeng (branches removed) half liang, Black Snake (soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted) half liang, Cinnamon (coarse bark removed) half liang, Black Pepper 1 fen, Dried Ginger (roasted) 1 fen.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder; use half as a powder for external application, and mix the remainder with refined honey to form pills the size of a tung tree seed.

Instructions for Use

This formula may be administered regardless of whether the condition is tetanus, acute stroke, chronic stroke, flaccid stroke, or stroke occurring during hair washing or bathing; it is effective for facial paralysis, as well as for stroke during pregnancy or the postpartum period.For severe and chronic cases, mix half a qian of the powder with wine containing fresh ginger, mint, and Chinese schizonepeta, and take 3 to 5 pills; for very severe cases, mix half a qian to 2 qian of the powder with mint wine, and take 7 to 10 pills, three times a day and once at night.
