Processing
Finely chop the ingredients, mix with good wine, and let soak overnight. Place in a cauldron and simmer in oil until the mixture turns a deep reddish-brown; then strain out the residue. Transfer to a clean cauldron and simmer over low heat. After a short while, add the separately ground dragon’s blood, frankincense, yellow丹, and dried toad; stir continuously with a willow twig, adding water drop by drop as needed to adjust the consistency. When the mixture reaches the desired softness, it is ready. For back abscesses that have not yet suppurated, place half the mixture in a silver or stone vessel and simmer over low heat until it reduces to about half a zhan. Strain out the residue. Next, add frankincense (finely ground) and continue simmering until the mixture reduces to about the volume of a tea spoon. Separately, boil honey until thickened, strain out the residue, and let it cool. Then combine the cooled honey with the previously prepared paste and the ground ingredients, stirring thoroughly. Simmer again until it reaches the consistency of gold lacquer, then transfer it to a water-resistant porcelain container for storage.
