Drug Formulation

Woody Poria (without black bark) 1 liang, Beijing-style Curcuma (peeled) 1 liang, Green Tangerine Peel (without pith) 1 liang, White Poria (peeled) 1 liang, White Atractylodes 1 liang, Barley Bran 1 liang, Sichuan White Ginger 3 qian, Black Pharbitis 0.5 liang (roasted until yellow), Alisma 1 liang.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed using vinegar paste, and coat with cinnabar.

Instructions for Use

If there is swelling on the face and around the eyes in the morning, and the limbs are swollen by the hour of Si, prepare a decoction of white mulberry bark and take 15 pills with it before bedtime; if the head, face, feet, and hands are not swollen, but only the abdomen is swollen, this should be divided into two types of qi syndromes: if the abdomen is blackish, it is called “spleen-stomach qi gu”; if the abdomen is yellowish and blue veins are visible on the belly, it is called “gu qi.” Prepare a decoction of Akebia stem and take 20 pills after a meal.

Note

Avoid salt, soy sauce, wheat flour, glutinous rice, shrimp and crab, scaleless fish, pheasant, duck, beef, mutton, and pork.
