Drug Formulation

Toad Venom 3 qian (from a live toad; remove the secretion, sun-dry it, slice it just before use, and dissolve in rice wine), Western Yellow 3 fen (ground), Atractylodes 4 qian (stir-fried in earth until charred), Cloves 2 qian (finely ground), Cinnabar 1 qian 5 fen (water-washed and purified), Wood Fragrance 2 qian (finely ground), Realgar 3 qian (water-washed and purified), Agarwood 2 qian (finely ground),Musk 1 qian (sorted and purified).

Processing

First, grind each of the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder, mix them thoroughly, and combine with toad venom and 5 glutinous rice dumpling tips. Pound the mixture over a thousand times to form pills the size of Sichuan pepper seeds. Dry them in the sun, then place them in a porcelain bowl with a lid. Next, take 1 qian 5 fen of cinnabar, mix it with rice wine, and coat the inside of the bowl with the mixture. Cover the bowl tightly and shake it one or two thousand times until it becomes glossy. Store the pills in a porcelain jar.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 pills per dose; for mild cases, 1 pill; for severe cases, 5 pills. Wash down with spring water; alternatively, let them dissolve in the mouth and swallow the resulting saliva.

Note

Pregnant women should take a reduced dose. After taking the medicine, refrain from smoking, drinking tea or alcohol, and eating for two hours.
