Drug Formulation

8 qian of Angelica sinensis root (fried with rice), 1 liang 2 qian of Citrus reticulata peel (fried), 8 liang of Aquilaria agallocha (sun-dried), 1 liang 2 qian of Atractylodes macrocephala (fried in salt water), 1 liang 2 qian of Magnolia officinalis (fried in ginger juice), 1 liang 2 qian of Fructus Aurantii (fried with wheat bran),White Cardamom 8 liang (roasted without husk), Raw Licorice 8 liang, Small Akebia 8 liang, Atractylodes (vinegar-roasted) 8 liang, Curcuma (vinegar-roasted) 3 liang, Aged Rice 1 sheng (roast with 49 castor beans until the rice turns light yellow; remove the beans, use only the rice, grind into powder, and add to the formula).

Grind the above ingredients into a powder and form into pills using lotus leaf water as a binder.

Instructions for Use

Adults: 3 qian per dose; the elderly: half the adult dose; children: 1 fen per year of age. For watery diarrhea, take with ginger decoction; for abdominal pain, take with Zhi Ke decoction; for bloody dysentery, take with licorice decoction; for white dysentery, take with ginger decoction; for mixed bloody and white dysentery, take with a mixture of licorice and ginger decoctions; for indigestion, take with Chen Pi decoction. If there is no time to prepare a decoction, simply take with hot water.

Note

Avoid use after typhoid fever or during the postpartum period.
