Drug Formulation

4 liang of silver-colored black sesame seeds (crushed), 8 liang of orpiment (sifted), and 20 liang of sesame oil.

Processing

Place the sesame oil in a clay pot. Heat over low heat until the oil is warm, then add the silver-black seeds to the oil. Stir with branches from five types of trees—peach, willow, mulberry, locust, and jujube—until a pearl-like foam forms. Skim off the dregs and strain thoroughly through a cloth;Return the oil to the pot, slowly sift the orpiment into the oil, and stir continuously with the five types of branches until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water. Remove and store.

Instructions for Use

When using, do not expose to direct heat; melt it in a double boiler, then apply the red-calcined paste as a poultice.
