Drug Formulation

1 liang of alum (calcined), 1 liang of gypsum, 1 liang of red ochre, 1 liang of Hengshan Sichuan pepper (remove the seeds and any closed pods; sweat), 1 liang of polygala (peeled), 1 liang of wolf’s-bane, 1 liang of pinellia (washed), 1 liang of sodium carbonate, 1 liang of calcined arsenic trioxide, 1 liang of scrophularia, 1 liang of ephedra (knots removed),1 liang of Fangfeng, 1 liang of Jiegeng, 1 liang of Qin Jiao, 1 liang of Shinan, 1 liang of Shiwei (hairs removed), 1 liang of Huanglian, 1 liang of Mangcao, 1 liang of Dried Rehmannia, 1 liang of Ning Shuishi, 1 liang of Tusizi, 1 liang of Licorice (roasted), 1.5 liang of White Quartz, and 20 apricot kernels (peeled, tips removed, and roasted).

Processing

Grind the above herbs into a fine powder, place them in a hemp bag, and brew wine using 3 jin of seasonal malt and 3 dou of rice. Once the wine has fermented, combine it with the herbs and seal the mixture. Let it steep for 10 days in winter, 7 days in spring, 3 days in summer, and 5 days in autumn, then remove the herbs and discard the sediment.

Instructions for Use

Take a dose of wine equivalent to one chicken egg; when the wine is consumed, take another dose. Take twice daily. All cases treated in this manner will be cured; improvement is noticeable after 10 days, and full recovery occurs after 30 days.

Note

One should observe fasting and abstinence while taking this medicine.
