Drug Formulation

3.5 qian of iron powder, 3.5 qian of oyster shell, half a liang of cinnabar, half a liang of Trichosanthes root, 2.5 qian of Coptis, 50 pieces of gold leaf (as coating), 50 pieces of silver leaf (as coating), 3.5 qian of Anemarrhena, half a liang of Silla ginseng, and half a liang of white mung beans (soaked in hot water, peeled, and ground into powder).

Processing

Combine the powdered Trichosanthes root and the other four ingredients with the powdered medicine from the previous formula. Use 1 zhan of juice extracted from the peeled fresh Trichosanthes root and 1 small zhan of white sand honey. Simmer together in a silver vessel until it boils 7–8 times. Allow to cool, then mix with the medicine to form pills the size of a Paulownia seed.
