Drug Formulation
5 sheng of mulberry twig ash, 5 sheng of platycodon root ash, and 5 sheng of quicklime (unslaked).

Processing
Combine all in one place and set aside. Separately, take 1 liang of Clematis root, 4 liang of Sichuan Aconite, 1 liang of Wild Aconite,1 liang of wild taro, 1 liang of raw Pinellia, and 5 qian of croton seed. Slice these ingredients into pieces, then decoct them into a concentrated decoction. Place the aforementioned ashes in a bamboo sieve (lined with rice straw), then pour the medicinal decoction over the ashes. Collect the filtered liquid in a container (the filtered liquid is considered optimal if it stings the tongue like a needle prick),about one large bowl’s worth. Place it in a pot and simmer over low heat. When it has reduced to the appropriate consistency, add 1 liang of white alum, reduce to a paste, store in a bottle, seal with beeswax, and set aside for future use.

Instructions for Use
When using, remove the ointment, grind it into a fine paste, and apply a small amount to the center of the ulcer; the medicinal properties will naturally spread outward, dissolving the necrotic tissue and eliminating infection. If pain is felt, peel back the ointment to inspect the area; if red, thread-like lines are visible around the edges of the affected area, spray it with a mouthful of cold water, and the pain will cease immediately.Once the necrotic tissue has been removed and new tissue is beginning to form, dilute a small amount of this ointment with water until it is the color of light tea. Dip a clean brush into the solution and gently wash the wound; this will promote gradual tissue regeneration and wound closure.
