Ginseng and Tangerine Pills,Heat arises from the abdomen, ascends through the chest and armpits, and encircles the neck and forehead; initially mild, it gradually intensifies to severe heat. Episodes occur unpredictably and worsen when hungry. There is discomfort in the epigastrium; the patient has a good appetite but is emaciated. The complexion is sallow-yellow; the skin lacks luster; the lips are dry. This condition results from an inherently weak spleen qi; previously, due to another illness, the patient mistakenly took heat-inducing medications that affected the spleen. Spleen heat causes the spleen to consume food and draw in fluids, thereby rapidly wasting away muscle tissue. The pulse is soft, weak, and rapid.
