Drug Formulation
3 fen of azurite (the spiral-shaped variety is best; ground), 49 pieces of gold leaf, 1 liang of cinnabar (ground separately), 1 liang of sulfur (ground), 1 liang of white lead (ground),Amethyst (ground) 1 liang, Mercury 3 fen (mixed with sulfur to form granules, then ground), Lead Oxide (ground) 3 fen, Lead丹 (ground together with the powdered azurite, amethyst, talc, and lead oxide) 3 fen, Realgar (ground together with the granulated cinnabar) 3 fen.

Processing
Take a Hunan-style medicinal bottle with a lid; seal it with Liu-yi clay and bake it over a fire until dry. First, add 20 pieces of gold leaf, followed by the sand; grind the four ingredients together into a powder and pack it tightly until level. Then add another 20 pieces of gold leaf, followed by azurite; grind the five ingredients together into a powder and pack it tightly until level;then add 9 pieces of gold leaf; finally, place the lid on top and seal it with Liuyi clay, leaving a 1-cun gap unsealed; the methods for heating, re-pounding and sifting, removing fire toxicity, and re-grinding are the same as those for the Da Tong Mercury Pills in the preceding formula; boil locust gum in water until thick, strain out the dregs, let it cool to a warm temperature, mix in wheat flour to form a thick paste, and shape into pills the size of a tung tree seed.

For all cases of stroke-induced paralysis, spasticity of the limbs, facial paralysis, epilepsy, mania, and pathogenic wind, take 5 to 7 pills with warm wine: one dose on an empty stomach, one at noon, and one before bedtime.
