Drug Formulation

10 liang of gold (finely chopped into powder), 3 liang of cinnabar (of a lustrous quality).

The formula is from *Shenghui* (Vol. 22); the name is found in *Shengji Zonglu* (Vol. 15).

Processing

Place the gold powder in a crucible, form a small pit in the center, place the cinnabar in the pit, cover it with more gold powder, seal it tightly with Liu-yi clay, and simmer over low heat for 7 days. Then remove the cinnabar, form another pit in the crucible, place the cinnabar inside to remove the heat toxicity, and remove it after 7 days. Grind it into an extremely fine powder and form it into pills the size of mung beans using millet rice.

Take 5 pills at a time, washed down with hot water, at any time of day.
