Drug Formulation

Mercury (ground into a paste) 8 fen, cinnabar (water-floated) 8 fen, whole scorpions (small) 8 fen, raw Tiannanxing 8 fen, rhino horn shavings 8 fen, Tianma 1 liang, white Aconite root (roasted until charred) 1 liang, white silkworm pupae (straight, with silk and mouthparts removed) 1 liang, indigo powder half a liang, musk 2 qian.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. First, boil the date pulp until tender, then grind it with the mercury into a paste until no granules remain. Next, mix in the powdered medicine; if the mixture is too stiff, add more date pulp. Once the consistency is right, form it into pills the size of a chicken’s head.
