Drug Formulation

Half a liang of peony bark, half a liang of aconite root (roasted, with skin and pith removed), half a liang of bupleurum root (stems removed), half a liang of Chinese gentian root, and half a liang of softshell turtle shell (soaked in wine, then roasted until reddish).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, mix with half liang of human nasal mucus, and store in a porcelain container.

Instructions for Use

For each dose, take one pig’s kidney stone; finely chop scallion whites and ground Sichuan pepper together until paste-like, then mix in 3 qian of the medicinal powder. Combine with one zhan of children’s urine and half a zhan of water, bring to a boil, and drink while warm.The patient should wear a soapy gauze shirt next to the skin; after taking the medicine, cover the body with clothing to induce a profuse sweat, expelling all sticky impurities. Then remove the soapy shirt, wipe the body dry, and rest in a draft-free place. Repeat this treatment once every seven days; if the sweating is mild, stop after one dose. Wash the soapy shirt with soapberry decoction and dry it with benzoin.
