Processing

Decoct the above herbs separately in 24 jin of oil, strain out the residue, then combine the decoctions and simmer until a red-brown paste forms; once the paste has set, stir until warm, test with a single drop—if it does not burst, add the following ingredients: aged wall soil, dried alum, hundred-herb ash, hair ash, cinnabar, and calcined purple quartz (each 1 liang), and 4 liang of ox glue (steamed with wine until dissolved);Stir over a thousand times to ensure uniformity; the more times stirred, the better.
