Drug Formulation

8 liang of this variety of Rehmannia root (select roots weighing 6–7 qian each; the best ones have small vertical striations but no horizontal ones, are not pure black in color, and have a chrysanthemum-yellow center inside; wash lightly). Take 4 qian of black cardamom, lightly roast it, and grind into a powder. Combine with rice wine in a sand pot, seal with several layers of damp paper, and steam for a long time. Remove, dry in the sun, add wine, and steam again. Repeat this process 9 times.Under no circumstances should you boil it in a clay pot, as this would deplete the genuine essence; iron utensils are strictly prohibited. Processing

First, pound Rehmannia, jujube peel, goji berries, and Angelica sinensis together into a paste. Then, grind the remaining herbs into a fine powder, add a little over 1 jin of refined honey, and form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Note

Begin taking this formula at the start of Summer (Lixia); avoid use in the fall. It is suitable for young people with weak constitutions. If taken annually during one’s youth, it can prevent internal injuries and yin deficiency. If such symptoms are already present, an increased dosage is recommended; do not neglect or delay treatment.
