Chinese Name : 硫黄饼

Drug Formulation

1 liang of alum-processed sulfur.

Processing

Grind this into a fine powder, mix with water to form a cake, and press it against the bottom of a porcelain bowl. Turn it over and use 1 liang of Qi-region mugwort and 3 qian of Sichuan pepper, ground into a powder, to smoke-dry the sulfur over a fire.

Benefits

Insect bites and cold sores respond well to heat therapy and soaking in hot water.

Instructions for Use

Before application, first boil a decoction of five branches each of willow, peach, mulberry, locust, and paper mulberry to wash and cleanse the affected area; then apply a paste of sesame oil mixed with sulfur powder. For dry sores, apply a paste of lard mixed with sulfur powder.
