Formulas Name : Xiao Qianhu Decoction

Chinese Name : 小前胡汤

Drug Formulation

Qianhu 8 liang, Banxia half sheng (washed), fresh ginger 5 liang, Huangqin 3 liang, Ren Shen 3 liang, licorice (roasted) 3 liang, dried jujubes 12 (split).

Cut the ingredients into pieces.

Benefits

For typhoid fever persisting for 6–7 days without resolution, characterized by alternating chills and fever, a sensation of fullness in the chest and flanks, a silent aversion to food and drink, restlessness, and a tendency to vomit. Also indicated for abdominal pain due to cold-induced hernia.

Instructions for Use

Boil with 1 dou of water until reduced to 3 sheng; divide into 4 doses.

Note

Avoid mutton, malt syrup, seaweed, and Chinese cabbage.
