Drug Formulation

Half a liang of realgar, half a liang of frankincense, 1 liang of Tianlinggai (roasted), 2 liang of rabbit feces, 1 fen of soft-roasted soft-shelled turtle shell, and 1 fen of mercury oxide.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder; use 1 dash of fine wine and half liang of rhubarb powder to boil into a paste, then mix in the aforementioned ingredients to form pills the size of a marble, coated with cinnabar.

Instructions for Use

Take one pill per dose, dissolved in wine mixed with a child’s urine at the beginning of the fifth watch. As if walking about 20 li, one will inevitably vomit worms resembling lamp wicks—slender and up to one cun in length—or resembling rotten plums, or toads; their appearances vary. If ineffective, take another dose the following day as needed.

Note

Do not use this formula if the patient does not cough after taking benzoin.
