Drug Formulation

Artemisia annua 2 liang, Bupleurum (without shoots) 2 liang, Paeonia lactiflora 1 liang, Acanthopanax cortex 1 liang, Dipsacus asper 1 liang, Dendrobium (without roots) 1 liang, Astragalus membranaceus 1 liang, Notopterygium incisum 1 liang(with the root tip removed. Chop all the above ingredients; soak them in 2 sheng of ash-free wine and 2 sheng of children’s urine; place in the sun to dry for 3 days, turning the mixture daily; at the end of the third day, strain, bake until dry, pound, and sift into a fine powder; reserve the wine used for soaking to simmer the subsequent ingredients), 1 liang of Angelica sinensis (sliced, baked), 1 liang of Achyranthes bidentata (soaked in wine, sliced, baked),Peach Kernels (remove skin and tip, stir-fried with wheat bran) 1 liang and a half, Cistanche (soaked in wine, sliced, and dried) 1 liang and a half, Rehmannia juice 3 sheng (for the above five ingredients, except for the Rehmannia juice, grind into a fine powder; combine with the Rehmannia juice and add to the previously prepared wine infusion; simmer over low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens into a paste; then remove from heat), Ligusticum wallichii 1 liang,Ginseng 1 liang, Poria (black skin removed) 1 liang, Cinnamon (coarse bark removed) 1 liang, Aconite (roasted until cracked, skin and navel removed) 1 liang, Cnidium (roasted) 1 liang, Selaginella (roots and soil removed, roasted) 1 liang,Sichuan pepper (seeds and closed ends removed; stir-fried to remove moisture) 1 liang, Magnolia bark (coarse bark removed; soaked in ginger juice and roasted) 1 liang, Wood fragrant 1 liang, Piper longum 1 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, mix them into the medicinal paste, and blend thoroughly with the previous eight ingredients until uniform. If the mixture is too dry to form pills, add refined honey and roll into pills the size of a paulownia seed.
