Instructions for Use
Mix white flour with water to form a dough, shape it into a ring according to the size of the base of the infected area, about one finger thick and a little over one cun high, and adhere it to the affected skin. Wrap it with a damp cloth over silk or linen. Pinch thin slices of yellow wax and place them inside the flour ring. Use the heat from an iron to melt the wax; if pain is felt immediately, the toxin is shallow;if no pain is felt, continue until the wax boils vigorously, gradually adding more wax. When the pain becomes unbearable, pour cold water over it and wait for it to solidify. If the sore does not hurt, the toxin is severe and the moxibustion has not yet reached the affected area; it is safe to perform the treatment again. For mild cases, perform 3 sessions; for severe cases, 3–4 sessions.
