Drug Formulation

1 liang of cardamom (brush off ash and dirt; select the largest ones; drill a hole in each and insert 7 cloves inside; wrap in vinegar-soaked paper and bake until all the oil has been completely rendered out), half a liang of poppy husks (remove the tops, stems, and pulp thoroughly; slice; soak in good sour vinegar overnight; stir-fry until dry and weigh), and 2.5 qian of frankincense resin (ground separately).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; soak the flesh of black plums in hot water until soft, then grind into a paste and form into pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 50–70 pills per dose: for diarrhea, take with rice water; for dysentery, take with ginger soup; for intestinal wind, internal toxins, or rectal bleeding, take with a decoction of Schizonepeta and Sanguisorba. Take before meals.
