Drug Formulation

Angelica sinensis (washed with wine) 2 liang, Ligusticum chuanxiong 1 liang 2 qian, Paeonia lactiflora (stir-fried with wine) 1.5 liang, Rehmannia glutinosa (steamed with wine, sun-dried) 2 liang, Panax ginseng (root base removed) 2 liang, Atractylodes macrocephala (root base removed, stir-fried) 2 liang, Poria cocos (peeled) 2 liang, Glycyrrhiza uralensis (honey-fried) 7 qian, Citrus reticulata peel 2 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take one set of placenta from a first-born male infant, wash it thoroughly under running water, then add 2–3 fen of musk, knead and wash again, and wring dry with a cloth. Simmer in 2 sheng of fine wine until it becomes extremely soft and mud-like. Mix in the powdered herbs; if the mixture becomes too dry, add more wine. Form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 100 pills per dose on an empty stomach with salted water; wine may also be used, or take them in the evening with rice water.
