Chinese Name : 洗眼槐枝汤

Drug Formulation

One large handful of locust branches, one large handful of willow branches (tender and green, about the thickness of a little finger, 3 cun long, cut into pieces), 30 qing qian coins, half fen of rock salt, 1 fen of raw magnolia bark, and 3 sheng of diluted vinegar mixed with brine.

Source

From *Shenghui*, Volume 32.

Processing

Place the above ingredients in a copper vessel and simmer over low heat; do not let the fire burn too fiercely. Maintain a gentle simmer with small bubbles like fish eyes. Separately, take about ten acacia and willow twigs, each about the length of a chopstick, wrap them with string, and use them to stir the decoction—both ends should be accessible. When the color changes, replace them with fresh ones. Wait until the liquid turns the color of green moss and has reduced by half, then strain and pour it into a porcelain vessel.

Benefits

For eye conditions characterized by redness, swelling, and dryness; the appearance of red veins or a film on the cornea; and unceasing flow of hot tears.

Instructions for Use

Wash the eyes with the solution while it is still slightly warm; this remedy may be used at any time of year.

Note

Keep away from drafts.
