1 liang of “Hundred Herbs Decoction,” half a liang of gallnut, 1 liang of chebulic myrobalan bark, 1 liang of wolf’s-bane, 1 liang of lotus leaf, 3 qian of starch, and half a liang of green alum.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder. Use one bowl of iron-infused water and simmer until reduced to half a bowl. Filter through cotton, then simmer over low-to-medium heat until it becomes a paste.

Instructions for Use

The night before, rinse the mustache and sideburns with a solution of white alum; in the morning, apply the paste.
