Formulas Name : Li Nu Dan

Chinese Name : 荔奴丹

Drug Formulation

3 fen of Renyan, 3 qian of mercury, 6 qian of fire-calcined gypsum, 6 qian of soapstone alum, 6 qian of alum, 1 qian of realgar, 5 fen of verdigris, and 1 liang 2 qian of table salt.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder until no granules are visible. Use 7–8 silver jars; divide the mixture among them, filling each to a depth of about 3–4 fen. Place the jars on a brazier and melt the mixture over low heat until it forms a solid mass.First, grind the rims of each jar smooth and place them all upside down on a silver basin. Place a large basin of water around the outside, set a copper basin on top of it, and add charcoal fire so that the jars are not exposed. Start with a gentle heat and gradually increase it; after one stick of incense has burned, reduce the heat and remove the medicine. Immediately grind it into pills with rice, each the size of a millet seed.

Instructions for Use

Take one or two pills per dose, wrapped in longan flesh and then in tofu skin, and swallow with salted water. Fast for one day to allow the medicine to circulate throughout the body before resuming food and drink.

Note

After taking the medicine, defecate in a deep pit in an open area and cover the feces with a thick layer of soil to prevent the toxic fumes from spreading to others.
