Drug Formulation

1 whole kidney (pork or mutton is acceptable), 2 liang of Polygala, 1 sheng of Ophiopogon (core removed), 2 liang of Ginseng, 2 he of Schisandra, 2 liang of Alisma, 2 liang of Dried Rehmannia, 1 liang of Poria, 2 liang of Cinnamon Bark, 2 liang of Angelica, 2 liang of Ligusticum, 1 liang of Scutellaria, 1 liang of Peony,5 liang of fresh ginger, 20 jujubes, 20 pieces of cuttlefish bone (roasted), and 1 liang of the yellow membrane from the inner lining of a chicken’s stomach.

Instructions for Use

First, boil the kidneys in 1 dou 5 sheng of water until reduced to 1 dou 3 sheng; remove the kidneys and decoct the remaining herbs until reduced to 3 sheng; strain out the residue and divide into 3 doses.

Note

Avoid raw scallions, wild fennel, and vinegar-based foods.
