Drug Formulation
1 liang of Bupleurum, 1 liang of Anemarrhena, 1 liang of Gentiana (washed), 1 liang of Chinese toon fruit (roasted), 1 liang of Coptis chinensis, half a liang of Coptis teeta, half a liang of Aloe, half a liang of Eupolyphaga, half a liang of Cnidium,half liang of areca nut, half liang of Salvia miltiorrhiza, half liang of Chuanxiong, half liang of Shenqu (roasted), half liang of wheat bran (roasted), half liang of Qingpi, half liang of Wulingzhi, 1.5 liang of Shijunzi pulp, 1 qian of mercury powder, 5 liang of hemp seeds, and 5 sheng of black beans.

Processing
Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take one yellow rooster, weighing about one jin or slightly more, and keep it in a cage, feeding it exclusively with fire hemp seeds. After five days, pluck the feathers until clean, make an incision on its back, remove the intestines and entrails,wipe it dry, and place the prepared medicine mixture into the chicken’s abdomen. Sew it closed with thread. In a small steamer, first line the bottom with a 3-cun-thick layer of black flour; place the chicken inside the steamer, surround it on all sides with black beans, and cover it with black beans on top. Steam from sunrise until sunset. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then remove the chicken and grind the lean meat until it reaches the desired consistency. If it is too hard, add a paste of wine and flour, mix it with the medicinal powder, and form into pills the size of small beans.
