Drug Formulation

2 fen of Zengqing, 3 fen of Cold Water Stone, 2 fen of Puxiao, 3 fen of Poria, 3 fen of Rhubarb, 3 fen of Aconite (roasted), and 2 fen of Croton Seed.

Processing

Pound the first group of ingredients separately; sift the second group. Combine the croton seed and sodium carbonate, and pound with 6,000 strokes of the pestle. Next, add the processed aconite root and pound until well blended; then add the poria and pound until well blended; then add the rhubarb and pound until well blended; then add the azurite and pound until well blended; then add the cold-water stone and pound until well blended; finally, add honey, mix, and pound with 1,000 strokes of the pestle.

Instructions for Use

Adults should take 2 pills the size of a soybean; children under 5 years old should take 1 pill the size of a sesame seed; children aged 2–3 should take 1 pill the size of a millet grain. When taking the medicine, wash it down with thin, plain rice porridge. The patient should lie down under a blanket to induce sweating. Take 2 pills during episodes of vomiting or diarrhea; take 3 pills for cholera; take 1 to 2 pills for unstoppable diarrhea.

Note

Avoid pork, cold water, asparagus, and strong vinegar.
