Realgar, brocade-patterned rhubarb, and unwormed soapberry—each in equal parts.

Processing

Take one crucible, wipe it clean, and fill it with realgar powder, packing it down firmly to about 5 fen. Then add the rhubarb and soapberry powders, cover the top, and pack it down firmly as well. Place the crucible over a medium-low flame, cover it with a piece of earthenware, leaving a slight opening of about 1 fen;Wait until the smoke turns gradually blue and the realgar has melted into a liquid; quickly remove it and pour it into a thick earthenware vessel to cool. Grind it into a fine powder, then use a paste made from wheat flour and ginger juice to form pills the size of a tung tree seed.
