Xi Xin

Asarum, a name in traditional Chinese medicine, refers to the dried roots and rhizomes of the Araliaceae plant Northern Asarum (Asarum heterotropoides Fr. Schmidt var. mandshurium (Maxim.) Kitag.), Seoul Asarum (Asarum sieboldii Miq. var. seoulense Nakai, or Asarum sieboldii Miq. The first two are commonly known as “Liaoning Asarum” and are mainly produced in Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang; Asarum sieboldii Miq. is mainly produced in Shaanxi.According to traditional medicine, it has a pungent taste and warm nature, enters the Heart, Lung, and Kidney meridians, and possesses the effects of relieving exterior syndromes and dispelling cold, expelling wind and alleviating pain, unblocking the orifices, and warming the lungs to transform fluid retention. It is primarily used to treat wind-cold colds, headaches, toothaches, nasal congestion with runny nose, nasal discharge, chronic sinusitis, rheumatic arthralgia, and phlegm-fluid retention accompanied by wheezing and cough.

Dendrobium

Dendrobium, a name in traditional Chinese medicine, refers to the following plants of the Orchidaceae family: Golden Hairpin Dendrobium (Dendrobium nobile Lindl.),Dendrobium huoshanense C.Z. Tang et S.J.Cheng, Dendrobium chrysotoxum Lindl., or Dendrobium fimbriatum Hook., as well as the fresh or dried stems of similar species within the same genus. It is primarily produced in Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Hubei.This product has the effects of nourishing the stomach and promoting the production of body fluids, as well as nourishing yin and clearing heat. It is primarily used to treat heat-related illnesses with fluid depletion, dry mouth and intense thirst, deficiency of stomach yin, poor appetite and dry heaving, persistent deficiency heat following illness, yin deficiency with excessive fire, bone-consuming fever, blurred vision, and weakness of the tendons and bones.

Uncaria

Uncaria is the name of a traditional Chinese medicine. It refers to the dried, hooked stems of the plants Uncaria rhynchophylla (Miq.) Miq. ex Havil., Uncaria macrophylla Wall., Uncaria hirsuta Havil., Uncaria sinensis (Oliv.) Havil. or Uncaria sessilifructus Roxb. The main production areas are Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Sichuan. This product has the effects of calming wind and alleviating convulsions, as well as clearing heat and harmonizing the liver. It is primarily used to treat internal liver wind, convulsions and spasms, high-fever convulsions, common cold complicated by convulsions, infantile crying fits, eclampsia during pregnancy, and headaches with dizziness.
