Formulas Name : Decoction of Gypsum for Female Impotence

Chinese Name : 女萎石膏汤

Drug Formulation

Anemarrhena rhizome (chopped on a locust wood chopping block, then pounded to a paste in a dry wooden mortar) 1 liang 3 qian; Gypsum (finely ground, washed with licorice water, clarified, sun-dried, and wrapped in cotton) 3 liang; Licorice root (tips and tails removed, thoroughly moistened with honey, and roasted until yellow) 1 liang;Hangzhou rice 1 he (rinsed clean), Cinnamomum cassia (with one layer of inner and outer bark removed) 1 qian, Epimedium (peel, remove knots, and remove filaments with a copper knife; soak in honey water overnight; remove, steam for the duration of one incense stick, then bake dry) 2 liang 7 qian, (Bamboo Violet) bamboo leaves (harvested from branches and leaves on the eastern side; remove those with insect damage or traces of insect eggs; wash thoroughly in east-flowing water) 1 sheng.

Instructions for Use

Boil 5 sheng of water until the rice is soft; strain out the residue, add the herbs, and boil down to 2 sheng. Divide into two doses and take while warm. Keep warm and covered until a slight sweat appears; once a sweat breaks out, the patient is cured.
