Drug Formulation

10 liang of Huang Dan (washed with water 7 times, stir-fried until purple), 3 qian of Asafoetida, 3 qian of Frankincense, 5 qian of Myrrh, 5 qian of Two-Headed Sharp, 3 qian of Angelica sinensis, 5 qian of White Angelica, 10 pieces of Sichuan Tortoise Shell, 10 pieces of Trichosanthes seed, and 1 qian of Musk.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Use 2 jin of sesame oil, 2 chi 4 cun of locust wood, 2 chi 4 cun of peach wood, 2 chi 4 cun of willow wood, 2 chi 4 cun of mulberry wood, 2 chi 4 cun of elm wood, 120 croton seeds (with oil shells removed), and 120 castor seeds (with shells removed).First, pour the oil into an iron pot and bring it to a rolling boil over a charcoal fire. Add the croton seeds and castor seeds, and simmer until charred. Skim off the dregs, then add the aforementioned herbs. Use the peach, willow, and other twigs to stir continuously until well mixed. Next, add the alchemical elixir; the consistency is correct when a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water. Store in a porcelain container.
