Half a liang of white alum, half a liang of blood-yü (i.e., slug), half a liang of stone-zhu (i.e., lycopodium), and 20 grains of black pepper.

Place the ingredients in a clay pot, seal it with clay, and calcine over a fierce fire until red-hot. Remove, clean off the clay, and finely grind the mixture into a powder.
