Drug Formulation

8 liang of sliced Poria, 6 liang of Bupleurum, 5 liang of sliced Alisma, 5 liang of sliced Trifoliate Orange Peel, 5 liang of Perilla Leaf, 5 liang of Fangfeng, 5 liang of Cowpea, 5 liang of Red Adzuki Beans, 4 liang of Honeysuckle Vine, 4 liang of dried Scutellaria, 4 liang of fresh Bamboo Shavings, 4 liang of Pollen,3 liang of Agastache, 3 liang of raw licorice, 3 liang of Elsholtzia, 3 liang of Ophiopogon, 210 pieces of Sargentodoxa, 30 fresh lotus leaves (chopped), and 100 liang of aged tea leaves (all using the “Kuping” standard).

Processing

First, place the lotus leaves in a large iron pot, add water, and decoct to extract the liquid; strain out the residue. Next, add the 17 ingredients, including Poria, to the pot and decoct until the liquid is fairly concentrated; strain the liquid and store it in a jar. Add water to the original herbs and decoct for a long time; strain the liquid and store it in a jar. Add water and decoct for a third time; strain the liquid, discard the residue, and combine it with the previous liquid in the pot. Decoct again until the liquid is reduced to about half the pot’s volume;Then add the tea leaves, stirring as you add them, until the liquid is completely absorbed; remove the mixture and spread it out to dry thoroughly in the sun.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 qian per dose. Divide the medicine into paper bags, seal them, and store them in a tin can to prevent air from escaping and causing the medicine to become damp. Take one bag per dose, decocted in clean water. Keep warm and sleep to induce sweating. For severe cases, decoct two doses together; reduce the dose by half for children.
