Drug Formulation

Tian Nansheng 2.5 liang, Banxia 2.5 liang (boil these two ingredients thoroughly in water with white alum, soapberry, and ginger juice until fully cooked), Chenpi 1 liang, Zhishi 1 liang (soak these two ingredients in water with white alum and soapberry for half a day; remove the white alum, sun-dry, and stir-fry), Bai Zhu (stir-fried) 1 liang,Atractylodes lancea (soaked overnight in a mixture of rice water, white alum, and soapberry; remove the black skin, sun-dry, and stir-fry) 1 liang, Peach Kernel 1 liang, Apricot Kernel 1 liang (soak these two ingredients together in a mixture of white rice and soapberry water; remove the skin and tips), Safflower (steamed with wine) 1 liang, Euphorbia (boiled in running water for 1 hour, then sun-dried) 1 liang,White Mustard Seed (roasted) 1 liang, Coriandrum (marinated in vinegar overnight, then roasted until black) 1 liang, Euphorbia (wrapped in flour and steamed) 1 liang, Phellodendron (roasted until brown) 1 liang, Rhubarb (steamed with wine, wrapped in paper and steamed, dried in an oven, then roasted again with wine) 1.5 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; mix with ginger juice and bamboo sap to form a paste, then roll into pills the size of mung beans.

Indicated for stroke, vertigo, sore throat, headaches, and asthma.

Instructions for Use

Take 20–30 pills per dose; for extremely severe cases, 50–70 pills. Adjust the dosage according to the patient’s condition (deficiency or excess), but do not exceed the recommended amount, as this may impair stomach qi. For phlegm-fluid retention, take with plain hot water at bedtime, once daily; for stroke with aphasia or paralysis in the early stages, take 35 pills per dose with strong ginger tea; for wind-induced headaches, which are often caused by damp phlegm rising upward, take 21 pills per dose with ginger tea before bedtime;Dizziness is often due to phlegm-fire; take 25 pills per dose with ginger soup after meals, followed by Erchen Decoction or Siwu Decoction with added Bupleurum, Scutellaria, Atractylodes, Angelica dahurica, and a doubled dose of Ligusticum. If heat is predominant, add Anemarrhena and Gypsum; for phlegm-induced fullness and masses, take 39 pills per dose with plain hot water before bedtime, once daily;For croup, caused by phlegm-fire above the diaphragm, take 25 pills each time, taken with ginger decoction at bedtime, once daily; for swelling and pain in the throat, take with plain water after meals.
