Drug Formulation

Half a he of fresh Pueraria root (extract the juice; if fresh is unavailable, finely chop dried Pueraria root, soak in water overnight, and simmer over low heat to extract the juice), half a he of bamboo sap (extracted fresh according to the method), 1 fen of hemp seeds (grind these three ingredients together), 1 liang of mung bean powder (ground separately), half a liang of cinnabar (ground and sifted), 1 qian of ox bile (ground), and 1 qian of musk (ground).

Processing

Mix the above ingredients together to form a consistency like thin porridge; add a small amount of mung bean powder and mix thoroughly. Pound in a stone mortar 300–400 times until a paste forms, then shape into pills the size of a chicken’s head.
