Drug Formulation

Half a liang of Sophora japonica flowers (roasted), half a liang of Coptis (cleaned and roasted), 2 liang of Aquilaria (sun-dried), and half a liang of white alum (calcined until slightly charred, then ground).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 10 black plums, soak them in sour vinegar overnight, remove the flesh, and simmer it into a paste. Mix the paste thoroughly with the powder to form pills. If the mixture becomes too dry, add a small amount of the vinegar used to boil the plums, and knead the mixture into pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 15–20 pills per dose; if bloody diarrhea persists as dysentery, add 3 cun of Sanguisorba officinalis, crush it, decoct it in water, and take the decoction on an empty stomach before meals; for alcohol-induced dysentery or anal pain and tenesmus, take three consecutive doses; otherwise, take one dose every two days.
