Drug Formulation

2 liang of Coptis (stems removed), half a liang of Eupolyphaga, half a liang of Schisandra seeds, 1 liang of Gentiana (stems and soil removed), 1 liang of Bupleurum (stems removed), 1 liang of Anemarrhena (roasted), and 1 liang of Erythrina (peeled).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take one female yellow chicken weighing about 1 jin, place it in a cage, and feed it hemp seeds. After five days, pluck the feathers until clean. Make an incision beneath the tail, remove the intestines and entrails, wash thoroughly, and dry. Fill the abdominal cavity with the prepared herbal powder, then sew it closed with thread. Take a small steamer,first line the bottom with a 3-cun-thick layer of black beans. Place the chicken inside the steamer, surround it on all sides with black beans, and cover it with a half-cun layer of black beans on top. Begin steaming at the Si hour and stop the fire at the Shen hour. When it has cooled to a warm temperature, remove the chicken, discard the herbal powder from the abdomen, as well as the tendons, bones, head, and wings. Grind the clean meat until smooth, then add a small amount of wine and flour paste to form pills the size of small mung beans.

Instructions for Use

Take 10 pills per dose, adjusting the amount according to the child’s age. Take on an empty stomach or before bedtime with boiled Ophiopogon tuber water. For chronic wasting disease with bone fever in those aged 15 and older, take with warm wine.
