1 jin of Strychnos nux-vomica (soak in water until swollen, remove hairs, and sort into three grades: large, medium, and small).Place 1 jin of genuine sesame oil in a copper ladle, set it over charcoal fire in a brazier, and bring to a rolling boil. Add the large soft-shelled turtles; wait until they float to the surface, and crush them until they turn yellow. If they turn black, they have been overheated, and the medicinal properties will be lost; remove them. Next, add the medium-sized soft-shelled turtles and follow the same procedure; finally, add the small soft-shelled turtles and follow the same procedure.).

Instructions for Use

When administering, distinguish between the young, the old, and children. Use 2 fen as the standard dose; young and robust individuals may take 3–4 fen. In cases of severe trauma from falls or blows—which fall outside this general rule—form pills using a paste made from aged yellow millet flour, each the size of a goad seed. Dry them under the scorching sun and store them. For common cold with fever, take with ginger soup; for delirium with loss of consciousness, take with peppermint soup; for vomiting, take with a decoction of amomum and roasted ginger;for headaches, take with a decoction of Chuanxiong, Bai Zhi, aged ginger, and scallion whites; for thirst, take with a decoction of dried kudzu, mint, aged ginger, and black plum; for dizziness or loss of consciousness, take with a decoction of Banxia and Chenpi; for rheumatic joint pain, take with a decoction of Fangfeng, Qianghuo, and ginger peel; for sudden surges of internal heat, take with a decoction of Huangbai mixed with a child’s urine; for asthma with phlegm-fire, take with a decoction of Chenpi;indigestion: take with a decoction of Shenqu and Hawthorn; excessive phlegm and shortness of breath: take with a decoction of White Mustard Seed, Pinellia, and Southern Star, mixed with ginger juice; difficult and scanty urination: take with a decoction of Shuitong and Lampwick;
