Processing

Use 1 jin of pure vegetable oil; simmer the rat over low heat until charred. Test the oil by dripping it onto water—if it does not disperse, filter it through cotton to remove the residue and clarify the liquid. Thoroughly wipe the pot clean, then simmer the oil over low heat. Next, add 5 liang of yellow丹 and stir-fry until the color changes, using a willow wood spatula to stir continuously until evenly mixed. Test by dripping onto water again; once it solidifies, add 1 liang of yellow wax and continue boiling until it turns blackish—at which point the ointment is complete.Store the ointment in a porcelain jar and place it on the ground to remove the heat toxicity for 2–3 days.
