Drug Formulation

8 liang of Strychnos seeds, 8 earthworms (cleaned of soil, roasted until dry, and ground into a powder), and 1 jin of sesame oil.

Processing

Heat the sesame oil in a pot until boiling, then add the Strychnos seeds and fry them. When the seeds begin to crackle slightly, remove one seed, cut it in half with a knife, and check that the interior is purplish-red; grind it into a fine powder. Then mix in the ground earthworms evenly, form into pills the size of mung beans using a flour paste.

Instructions for Use

Take 3–4 fen per dose, taken before bedtime with salt water. For children aged 5–6, take 2 fen with brown sugar water. If not made into pills, the powder may also be taken as is.To treat epilepsy, take one dose of Astragalus and Red Wind Decoction every evening, followed by one dose of the pills before bedtime. After one month, discontinue the decoction and take only the pills; over time, the condition will resolve on its own. After recovery, continue taking the pills for another 1–2 years.
