Processing

This medicine resembles pu xiao in shape and color but is green. Place it on an iron plate. Seal it in a bag filled with ash, then blow on it until the fire burns fiercely; the alum will boil and flow out. If its color is red like molten gold, it is genuine. Wait until the boiling subsides and the liquid is exhausted, then remove it from the fire and let it cool. Grind it into a fine powder, which will appear yellowish, and store it.

Benefits

Nail abscess. This may result from cutting the nails and injuring the skin, or from overgrown nails invading the flesh, leading to a swollen, painful sore. Later, due to friction from official boots, the area around the nail swells and reddens, with yellow pus oozing out; the infection spreads, causing all five toes to rot. Gradually, blisters filled with pus form around the edges of the foot, increasing rapidly day and night.

Instructions for Use

First, wash the sore with salt water, wrap it in cloth to dry, and apply this remedy. If there are maggots or yellow discharge, wash it that same day; the discharge will cease and the sore will dry. If the pain is severe, immediately apply a small amount of clarified butter to moisten the area, washing with salt water after each application. Keep areas with pus clean by washing frequently; do not disturb the scab once it has dried. After each wash, apply the dry medicine as described at the beginning. If there is severe, sudden pain, apply butter immediately; within five days, you will notice scabs forming. As they gradually peel off, revealing red skin, continue washing and applying the medicine as before; within ten days, the sores will gradually heal, and the scabs will fall off completely. In soft areas where new white pus-filled blisters may form, simply puncture them and apply the medicine; the condition will naturally heal completely.
