Drug Formulation

3 qian of toad venom (dissolved in wine), 5 fen of mercury oxide, 1 qian of dried alum, 1 qian of cold water stone, 1 qian of verdigris, 1 qian of frankincense, 1 qian of bismuth sulfate, 1 qian of musk, 1 qian of realgar, 21 snails, and 3 qian of cinnabar (for coating).

Processing

Grind each ingredient into a fine powder. First, grind the snails into a paste; then mix them thoroughly with the toad venom. Add the remaining medicinal ingredients and pound the mixture until extremely uniform. Form into pills the size of mung beans and coat them with cinnabar.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 pills per dose, accompanied by 5 cun of green onion white. The patient should chew it thoroughly, spit it into the palm of their hand (left for men, right for women), wrap the medicine inside, and swallow it with 1 zhong of hot wine without ash. Cover with a blanket to induce sweating; the treatment is complete once the patient has sweated as if having walked 5–6 li. For severe cases, take another dose.
