Drug Formulation

1 black aconite root (a large one; hollowed out from below the navel like a jar, leaving a 1 fen-thick wall; fill the cavity with realgar until full; then scoop out the residue, grind it into a fine powder, and weigh the amount; mix this powder with white flour using an equal amount of water to form thin cake-like discs; wrap the aconite root with these discs—the realgar must be sifted beforehand); half a qian of ground wood fragrant; half a qian of ground aged tangerine peel.

Processing

Use 3–4 jin of charcoal to build a fire on level ground until the ground is red-hot. Spread the area 7 cun in diameter around the fire and place the processed Aconite in the center. Turn it frequently so that the medicinal coating on all sides becomes evenly charred and reddish-brown. Place it in a wooden mortar and pound for half a day until both the flour and the Aconite are finely ground. Add the ground Wood Fragrance and aged tangerine peel, then gradually drip in water while pounding to mix evenly. Form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 5 pills each time, on an empty stomach or before the evening meal, with lightly gingered tea warmed to body temperature. With prolonged use, pain, acid regurgitation, and similar symptoms will cease entirely.
