Drug Formulation

Raw Rehmannia glutinosa (washed) 1 liang, Chuanxiong 1 liang, White Peony Root 1 liang, Angelica sinensis (washed) 1 liang (all used raw), Licorice 3 qian, Eagle’s Claw 3 qian, Coptis 3 qian, Qinpi 3 qian (all used raw).

Instructions for Use

For severe cases, take 5 qian per dose; for mild cases, 3 qian. Use 7 fen of a bowl of water and decoct until reduced to half a bowl. First, use the steam to fumigate the eyes; wait until it cools to a warm temperature, strain out the residue, and wash the eyes with the liquid. Repeat this process while the liquid is still warm, 5–7 times daily, using fresh decoction each time. For women with eye ailments, the decoction may be taken orally; use the residue to prepare another decoction for washing the eyes.
